Teaming Up Helps Reading Buddies be Sailor Strong

During the month of March, students at Frank G. Lindsey Elementary School focused on the “G” in Sailor STRONG by showing their “Grit.” Every class paired with another class as reading buddies for the month and the students were determined to improve as readers.

Ms. Ribeiro’s first grade class was paired with Mrs. Emanuelo’s PreK class, joining together to continue the Read Across FGL initiative. Each student brought one of their favorite books to either share or read to one another.

Ms. Ribeiro shared how inspired she was to see her first-grade students teach and work together with the younger PreK children. Each student had a paper heart that included the phrase, “My favorite book…” and filled in their answer.

“I was in awe of how these little kiddos demonstrated their ‘Grit’ as they tried their best and asked for help when completing their reading hearts,” Ms. Ribeiro said. “Go Sailor STRONG!”
